Everything modern for heart health

Department of The Nuclear Medicine Department

Department Name: Nuclear Medicine Department

Head of Department: Hikmatov Akrom Azimjanovich

Chief Nurse: Bozarova Khafiza Urokovna

General Information: The Nuclear Medicine Department incorporates the most modern and advanced methods of nuclear medicine diagnostics. The department has PET-CT and Gamma camera equipment manufactured in the USA. Additionally, the department has its own Cyclotron for the synthesis of radiopharmaceuticals (RFP). The use of these technologies has enabled the development of nuclear medicine in the diagnosis of cancer and treatment in other medical fields. Nuclear medicine is an innovative approach for diagnosing and treating cancer and endocrine diseases.

Highly qualified specialists from leading foreign centers work in the department. For complex and severe cases, consultations with foreign partners are held online for diagnosis and treatment.

Each year, the department performs outpatient examinations for over 5,000 patients with various cancers and pathologies. The key diagnostic methods include:

  • 18F-FDG diagnostics
  • Dynamic and static kidney examinations
  • Renography (kidney function test)
  • Thyroid gland scanning
  • Bone scintigraphy
  • Liver static and dynamic studies
  • Bone metastases treatment with Sm153-oxybifor and 177Lu-PSMA-617 for prostate cancer radioisotope therapy.

PET-CT (Positron Emission Tomography) is an effective and modern method for diagnosing cancer. Our PET-CT “GE Discovery IQ” is one of the most advanced and expensive machines available in state hospitals, which facilitates early detection of diseases. Various radiopharmaceuticals are used to identify cancer cells. A radioactive substance, FDG (18F-fluorodeoxyglucose), is injected into the human body, and if pathological division has begun in the cells, it will accumulate in those areas. Based on the accumulation level, the process can be determined, enabling early detection of cancer.

The early diagnosis of oncological processes in children is one of the major achievements in medicine. This approach provides a foundation for early and complete recovery from diseases for young organisms.

Additional diagnostic methods, such as ultrasound (US), X-ray, CT, and MRI, cannot detect tumor foci, but they can be identified with PET-CT.

Advantages of PET-CT over other diagnostic methods:

  • A completely safe, painless diagnostic method. The average dose of the preparation is 6-8 millicuries, which is equivalent to getting sunburned in 10 minutes.

Additionally, the Gamma camera (Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography) is available in the clinic. We have the “GE Discovery NM 630” installed. This device is another achievement in nuclear medicine, allowing not only the detection of oncological processes but also the assessment of the heart, kidneys, liver, and other organs' functionality based on the radioactive substance's emission from specific organs. This method is also a key tool in the development of transplantation.

In general, the department is fully equipped with the most advanced medical equipment, making it one of the best in Uzbekistan and Central Asia.
